An example character profile text about Viking Hooligan Hiccup from the children’s novel How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell. This exemplar character description of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III is perfect to use as a WAGOLL. The model character profile comes with a feature identification worksheet for children to fill in, plus answer sheet that can be uploaded for remote learning or shared in class. After identifying the features of the exemplar text, pupils plan and then write their own character description of Hiccup, Snotlout, Fishlegs, Gobber the Belch or any other character from the book using the differentiated resources provided. They then use these categorised notes to write their own non-chronological report about the Chinese Lung Dragon. This can be incorporated into study of the Chinese New Year.
